 According to the Internet Search Engine Google, links to a given website, due to the "uniquely democratic nature of the web," are seen as votes indicating overall value. As a result, the Southwest Michigan Business & Tourism Directory website ranks number one for business and tourism interests in Southwest Michigan for the third year in a row.
In 2005, the Southwest Michigan Directory enjoyed 2,279 links from websites around the world. This total was a combination of links found at the following Search Engines: Google, Yahoo, and MSN. In second place was the Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council.
By 2007, this link total increased 203%, to 4,618 for the Southwest Michigan Directory. In second place was the Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce.
